According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 9, within the framework of a working trip to the Republic of cyberspace, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang recently visited and met with the Vietnamese community here.
Attending the meeting were Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy concurrently President of the Republic of cyberspace Hai Hung, Mr. George Christofides - Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the Republic of cyberspace and nearly 40 representatives of Vietnamese associations in cyberspace.
Informing at the meeting, Ambassador Duong Hai Hung highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity and efforts to integrate the community, and said that the local government acknowledged the positive contributions of the people to the socio-economic life.
The community in Cyprus is regularly connected with the homeland through many cultural promotion activities, volunteering, and responding to domestic movements. In 2024, the community donated 20,000 Euros to support domestic people to overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi.
Representatives of the people, Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh - Chairman of the Vietnam Community Management Board in Ciep, Ms. Phung Thi Quyen - Chairman of the Vietnam Workers' Community Association in Ciep reported on the situation of activities.
The community currently has about 6,000 people living mainly in big cities such as Nicosia, Limassol, Paros. Associations such as the Community Management Board, the Volunteer Committee, the Culture - Arts Committee, the Hai Duong City Council... are active, both supporting the people and contributing to spreading the image of Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that the visit took place on the occasion of Vietnam and Singapore celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975-2025), and was the first time a community working group has visited the area. The Deputy Minister praised the spirit of striving to rise up of the people, affirming that the Vietnamese community in Cries is increasingly positioned in the local society.
The Deputy Minister hopes that people will continue to comply with the law, focus on doing business, solidarity and supporting each other, contributing to building a good image of the country and people of Vietnam. She emphasized the role of preserving cultural traditions and the Vietnamese language for the younger generation, considering this an important bridge to connect with her homeland.
Also on this occasion, the Deputy Minister informed about the country's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration; affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Vietnamese.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister presented Vietnamese language teachers, historical and cultural books and Vietnamese flags to serve community activities.
Before that, the working delegation visited the headquarters of the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Cries. The Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation for the affection, attachment and initiatives of Consul of Honour George Christofides for the Vietnam - Singapore friendship.
During the working trip, the delegation also visited a number of typical Korean businesses in Cyprus. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the dynamism and acumen of the people, and at the same time encouraged the active promotion and consumption of Vietnamese goods in the local market.
