On the afternoon of July 8, in Malmö city (Sweden), the working delegation of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese led by Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with representatives of the Vietnamese community, associations, experts and intellectuals living, studying and working in Sweden.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang shared with overseas Vietnamese about the strong transformation of the country, emphasizing the orientation of sustainable development, digital economy, science and technology and high-quality human resource training.
The Deputy Minister informed about major Party resolutions, including Resolution 57 on science - technology development and digital transformation, and Resolution 68 on private economic development, all of which emphasized the role of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals abroad.
Representatives of the associations expressed their emotions at the attention of the Party, State and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Many proposals have been made to enhance knowledge connectivity, promote the role of the younger generation, preserve cultural identity and promote people's diplomacy.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Sweden Tran Van Tuan said that the Vietnamese community in Sweden has about 22,000 people, mainly living in the South, especially the Malmö area. The community is stable, integrates well, contributes a lot to the local society and always looks forward to the homeland.
On July 9, in Denmark, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the working delegation had a meeting with the Vietnamese community at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Nguyen Le Thanh said that the community here has about 17,000 people, living stably, integrating well, and is highly appreciated by the local society. The team of Vietnamese intellectuals has become famous in many fields and actively contributed to the lives of the local people.
The representative of the Association of Vietnamese Experts and Intellectuals in Denmark (AVIDE) reported on the association's activities, proposing a model of "Knowledge Satellite Network" including two pillars: "Return Corridor of quintessence" and " Launching for On-Site Knowledge Satelights".
The Association also proposed three initiatives: "Green energy bridge", " healing and socialization digitalization", "Sustainable innovation nursery", along with two financial support and connection mechanisms.
People expressed their desire to contribute to their homeland, propose initiatives on teaching Vietnamese, cultural exchange, and supporting vocational labor from Vietnam to Denmark.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her gratitude to generations of overcoming difficulties, affirming their position in the host country and always looking forward to their homeland. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the Vietnamese language classes in the community, supported the cultural activities of the Embassy and overseas Vietnamese, and informed about the new policies in the Law on Vietnamese nationality, creating more favorable conditions for people of Vietnamese origin to return to their nationality.
The Deputy Minister also introduced annual activities for overseas Vietnamese such as Vietnamese language teacher training programs, visits to Truong Sa, Xuan Quoc Hac and the upcoming event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.
