On January 30, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez declared that Cuba strongly condemns the US's new measures to block the fuel supply to this island nation.
Currently, the US is proposing to impose a complete blockade on Cuba's fuel supply. A long list of fabrications is used to justify, in order to consider Cuba as an inexisting threat" - Mr. Rodríguez wrote on social network X.
Cuban Foreign Minister emphasized that Washington is using blackmail and coercion to force other countries to participate in the policy of comprehensively besieging Cuba.
According to Mr. Rodríguez, the US threatens countries that refuse to support sanctions by arbitrarily and excessively imposing tariffs, violating all standards of free trade.
Mr. Rodríguez called the US actions serious pressure, and said that for more than 65 years, the Cuban people have suffered the longest and most severe economic pressure in the country's history.
Previously, on January 29, US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing tariffs on goods from oil suppliers to Cuba, with the reason "resolving a national emergency".
The White House statement also mentioned Cuba's relationship with Russia, Hamas and Hezbollah to explain the new tax policy.
These actions constitute an unusual and serious threat to US national security and foreign policy, requiring immediate response to protect US citizens and interests," the White House said.
