General Secretary To Lam emphasized that for Vietnam, solidarity, support and cooperation with Cuba is a responsibility and morality.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the afternoon of February 19, 2025, at the Party Central Committee Office, General Secretary To Lam received Cuban Politburo member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from February 18-20, 2025.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam reiterated his good impressions of the State visit to Cuba in September 2024 as well as the results of the phone call on February 4, 2025 with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel; welcomed Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla back to visit Vietnam and highly appreciated the results of the talks between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

The General Secretary affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respectfully remember the solidarity and wholehearted support that Cuba has given to Vietnam; expressed confidence in the brotherly country of Cuba, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, continuing to steadfastly overcome difficulties and challenges, and achieving new achievements in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The General Secretary emphasized that for Vietnam, solidarity, support and cooperation with Cuba is a responsibility and morality, not only for the benefit of the two countries but also a model contribution to the progressive movement in the world.

The General Secretary suggested that the two sides effectively coordinate the implementation of cooperation projects in the fields of food and energy production; discuss and expand cooperation to potential areas such as biotechnology, healthcare, tourism; continue to effectively implement cooperation mechanisms and agreements between the two Parties and the two countries.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla respectfully thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation; respectfully conveyed the letter and warm greetings of General Raul Castro, First Secretary, President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel and senior Cuban leaders to General Secretary To Lam and senior Vietnamese leaders; affirmed that Cuba considers Vietnam a successful model in innovation and building socio-economic development in the direction of socialism; and believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the brotherly country of Vietnam will continue to achieve greater achievements.

Cuba attaches great importance to the cooperation between the two Parties, creating a solid foundation and orienting bilateral relations.

The Cuban Foreign Minister was pleased to report to General Secretary To Lam on the positive results of this visit to Vietnam; expressed his deep and sincere gratitude for the solidarity and practical support of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for Cuba in recent times, especially the effective support for agriculture and food security, as well as Vietnam's support at multilateral forums.

The Minister highly appreciated Vietnamese enterprises for their long-term attachment and business with Cuba, maintaining their position as the largest investor from the Asian region.

Also at the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their determination to further deepen the exemplary Vietnam-Cuba relationship, which was founded by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro and has been nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; agreed to continue to actively and effectively implement the agreed commitments and agreements between the two countries' senior leaders, as well as activities in 2025 - Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year", commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1960-2025).

General Secretary To Lam conveyed warm regards to General Raul Castro and his senior Cuban leaders, conveyed his respectful greetings and looked forward to the visit of First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel to Vietnam.
