South Korean authorities have summoned former President Moon Jae-in for questioning as part of an investigation into alleged bribery in connection with the appointment of his ex-son-in-law at a Thai airline, Yonhap quoted an unnamed official as saying at the prosecutor's office.
The news report said that the Jeonju District Prosecutor's Office announced the summons of former President Moon Jae-in last month. The former president was summoned for bribes through Thai Eastar Jet, which appointed Seo, the ex-husband of Moon Jae-in's daughter.
According to Yonhap, the prosecutor's office accused Mr. Moon Jae-in and his daughter Da-hye of receiving payments related to Mr. Seo's appointment.
Mr. Seo took on a position at Thai Eastar Jet after founder and former two-term congressman Lee Sang-jik was appointed as the head of the Korean Business, Small and Enterprises Agency.
The prosecutor's office is coordinating with the former president's group of lawyers to arrange the questioning, Yonhap's source said.
