Speaking to VNA, President Lee Jae Myung said that General Secretary To Lam's visit to South Korea is the first event to welcome a foreign head of state and also the first state visit organized by the people's government of South Korea.
This shows that South Korea attaches great importance to its relationship with Vietnam and is a testament to the strong determination of the President and the South Korean Government in developing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries towards the future.
"I believe that this visit will contribute to further strengthening political trust between the two countries, and at the same time mark an important milestone, opening a new chapter for the Korea - Vietnam relationship" - President Lee Jae Myung said.
According to President Lee Jae Myung, as the global economic and trade environment becomes increasingly unstable, further expanding and developing economic cooperation between the two countries is something that needs to be emphasized. The economic partnership that South Korea and Vietnam have built over the past time is a vivid example of how countries can completely create common interests in international relations.
"We will work together to achieve the common goal of bringing bilateral trade turnover to 150 billion USD by 2030. We will cooperate closely to ensure that this ambitious goal is not only to increase trade turnover but also to contribute to the sustainable growth of both countries" - President Lee Jae Myung said, adding that the Korea - Vietnam relationship will not only stop at the current trade and investment cooperation but will reach cooperation in future strategic areas such as national infrastructure, science and technology, and human resource training.
President Lee Jae Myung hopes that in the process of Vietnam pursuing the national vision of " becoming a high-middle-income country by 2030" and " becoming a high-income country by 2045", South Korea will be a trusted partner accompanying Vietnam.
Sectors such as nuclear power, high-speed railways and infrastructure, as well as advanced science and technology industries will play a key role in realizing Vietnam's national vision. Korea hopes to find an effective cooperation plan in the field of infrastructure, share experiences in research and technology development through organizations such as the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST), and promote the training of excellent human resources, thereby contributing to the common prosperity of both countries.
People-to-people exchanges and cultural exchanges are a solid foundation for deepening the relationship between the two countries. The Korean government will continue to pay attention and actively support so that the majority of Vietnamese people living and working in Korea can settle down as part of Korean society.
South Korea will also promote cooperation in the fields of tourism and cultural industry between the two countries. With the Korean content industry (K-content) affirmed in the global market, cultural cooperation between the two countries will not only be about sharing each other's beauty but also create mutually beneficial opportunities for both Korea and Vietnam.
