Experts from the consulting firm Yakov and Partners believe that the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology could bring BRICS+ countries up to 600 billion USD by 2030.
Experts from the consulting firm studied the current situation and prospects for the development of artificial AI in BRICS member countries as of November 2024.
According to the research results, by 2030, the expected economic potential achieved from the implementation of generative AI technologies could reach 350-600 billion USD.
By then, the full economic impact of deploying generative AI models in the economies of BRICS member states could reach $0.9-1.4 trillion, accounting for about 20% of the total economic impact of AI in these countries, the researchers point out.
BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the original members of the group. It connects some of the largest energy producers with some of the largest energy consumers in the developing world.
The BRICS group has been growing stronger, consolidating economic power in a world where the US has great economic influence, according to Bloomberg.
BRICS will expand in early 2024 to include Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ethiopia and Egypt. Saudi Arabia was also announced as a new member of BRICS, although the kingdom has yet to make a final decision on whether to join the group.
The BRICS group admitted Indonesia in January 2025. Countries still seeking to join include Malaysia and Thailand. In November 2024, Türkiye said it had been granted “partner country status.”
