On November 9, South Korean officials said about 100 people had been evacuated from the Lotte shopping mall in Seoul after a threat that the area was about to be bombed spread widely on social media.
The threat appeared on the evening of November 8 (local time) on the social network DC Inside, warning of "immediately fleeing the Lotte Department Store" in Seoul, and claiming that 5 explosive devices had been placed on the second floor, according to police and firefighters.
An anti-terrorism response team and other officers were dispatched to 10 branches of the Lotte Center for Commerce in Seoul but did not detect any explosive devices.
All stores were closed for the day, but about 100 spectators at the cinema inside the Lotte Shopping Center in northern Seoul were evacuated in case, according to officials.
Police said they are tracking the Internet protocol address - equivalent to a home address or online phone number - used to post warnings to identify the suspect.
