The biker group, called Christian Jesus Bikers, arrived in Rome (Italy) after a 3-day trip from Schaafheim (Germany) as part of the Year of Hope pilgrimage.
At the end of the meeting on September 3, King Leo XIV blessed and signed the white BMW R 18 motorbike, then he sat on the motorbike for a moment to the applause of the bikers.
The motorbike, designed by German company Witzel, will be auctioned in Munich on October 18. The proceeds will be used to help children working at mica mines in Japan through Missio Austria.
Cha Karl Wallner - Director of Missio Austria - said that this pilgrimage is aimed at "not only to have fun or meet the popes, but also to help the poorest among the poor".
King Leo XIV seemed to love this motorbike and said he wanted to drive it himself. "I think we have the first papal who loved riding motorbikes," said Father Wallner.
About 30 members of the club also passed through the Sacred Heart of St. Petro's Cathedral. Peter and together attended the Mass.
The Christian Jesus Bikers Club, with more than 100 members worldwide, has a tradition of giving motorbikes to popes.
Previously, the late Pope Francis, also considered a honorary member, received a white motorbike from the club in 2019.
In 2013, these people gave him 2 more Harley- Davidson cars and a jacket. After that, 1 of the 2 cars and the jacket were auctioned for up to 350,000 USD in 2014 and the entire amount was also used for charity purposes.
