Thai royal updates the health status of the princess

The Thai royal issued a statement on the health of Principess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati on August 31.

The Thai royal said that the infection of Thai Prince Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati (commonly known as Prince Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol) has improved and her blood pressure has stabilized.

The 46-year-old princess is the eldest of seven children of Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Principess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati is still receiving antibiotics to control the infection, according to the royal announcement.

This is the third health update related to the princess announced by the Thai Royal Family in less than a month.

Principess Bajrakitiyabha has been in a coma for nearly 3 years after losing consciousness due to arrhythmia in December 2022. Medical equipment is still being used to support her kidneys and lungs.

According to the Royal Internal Affairs Office of Thailand, a team of doctors at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok are continuing to closely monitor the princess's condition and provide comprehensive care.

Previously, the Royal Thai Internal Affairs Office on August 15 announced the first update on the province's condition in more than 2 years.

"The doctors reported that the princess's lungs and kidneys have resumed function with the support of medical equipment and medicine. From August 9, 2025, the medical team discovered a serious blood infection, leading to the use of antibiotics and drugs to stimulate blood pressure to maintain stable levels" - the statement said.

Miss Bajrakitiyabha is considered by some analysts to be a potential heir, making her the first queen of Thailand.

King Vajiralongkorn, 73, has not appointed an heir since taking the throne in 2016.

Since her illness, the portrait of Miss Bajrakitiyabha has been hung in public places across the country, along with wishes for her quick recovery.
