According to local officials, the incident took place at about 14h45 minutes on 10.2 (local time) when a small airjet 35A, take off from Austin, Texas (USA), had a problem during landing.
According to The New York Times, the original cause was determined to be due to the main response of the left 35A, causing the aircraft to lose control, slide from the runway and collide with a large commercial aircraft Gulfstream. 2100 is parked on the parking lot.
The strong collision caused one death on the spot, the two seriously injured were taken to the local injury center in critical condition, and another person was treated at the hospital in a stable state. Another passenger was fortunate not to be injured and refused to treat.
Immediately after the incident, all flights at Scottsdale airport suspended operations to serve rescue and investigation. The US National Traffic Safety Agency has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The identities of 5 people present on 2 aircraft have not been revealed and authorities have not yet confirmed who is the passenger on each plane.
Notably, this collision occurred in the context of a series of aviation disasters recently in many parts of the United States. At the end of January, a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines aircraft collided near Washington, killing all 67 people on two flights. Next, 7 people died when a plane crashed near a shopping center in Philadelphia on January 31. Just a few days later, 10 others were killed in a plane crash to Nome, Alaska.
These successive accidents have raised concerns about aviation safety, especially related to technical issues and testing processes before US flights. Experts call to enhance safety control at small airports and for private aircraft, which are higher at risk due to the sometimes not strict inspection standards than large commercial flights. .
The US National Traffic Safety Agency continues to investigate to determine the cause of the incident in Scottsdale, and review the safety processes to prevent similar accidents in the future.
