The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a weather trend forecast for the next month (from February 11 to March 10).
Regarding temperature trends, the average temperature across the country in the next month will be approximately the same as the average of many years; in the Northwest region, it will be 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the average of many years in the same period.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Head of Climate Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting - said that from February 11 to March 10, cold air will continue to affect our country's weather.
"However, because the center of the cold continental high pressure tends to shift to the east, it can cause many days of light rain, drizzle and fog," said Mr. Hoa.

Previously, during the period from January 11 to February 10, there were 4 cold spells on January 14, January 26, February 1 and February 7. Notably, the cold spell from February 7 caused widespread severe cold in the Northern region on February 7-10 and from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh provinces on February 8-9.
The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North and North Central regions is below 7 degrees Celsius in some places such as: Sa Pa (Lao Cai) 5 degrees Celsius, Dong Van (Ha Giang) 6.2 degrees Celsius, Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) 6.1 degrees Celsius, Sin Ho (Lai Chau) 6.4 degrees Celsius, Mau Son (Lang Son) 3.5 degrees Celsius...

Total rainfall in the Northern and North Central regions during the period 11.2 - 10.3 was generally approximately the same as the average of many years; other regions were 10 - 20mm higher, in some places over 30mm higher than the average of many years during the same period.
"During the forecast period, the Central and Southern regions are likely to experience some days of scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places," Mr. Hoa added.
Light rain, drizzle and fog, especially in the northeastern and north central provinces, will affect people's daily activities and traffic.
Regarding dangerous weather phenomena at sea, during the forecast period, the equatorial low pressure trough tends to be active, lifting its axis to the north and potentially affecting the southern East Sea area, not excluding the impact on the mainland of the southern provinces of our country.
Cold air is likely to cause strong winds and large waves affecting boat operations.
