The MH370 search progress report sent to relatives of passengers on Malaysia Airlines' missing flight in 2014 said that the Singaporean-flagged Armada 86 05, operated by the US maritime robot company Ocean Infinity, made no significant findings in the latest search phase.
In general, despite the continuous deployment of self-propelled underwater vehicles (AUVs) and achieving a significant accumulated survey range during this period, so far there have been no significant findings or conclusions identified from search activities" - the MH370 search update document stated clearly.
According to the update, in the search period from January 6 to January 15, Ocean Infinity's Armada 86 05 searchcraft successfully mapped about 7,236.40 km2. The expected completion date of the search was January 16, but then the search was extended to January 24 to consider "considerations on operations and the need to maximize the survey scope".
The Armada 86 05 ship and 3 Hugin AUV self-propelled submarines of this ship have been deployed south of the 7th Arrow in the Indian Ocean. This is a curved geographical boundary calculated based on the final satellite communication signals between the MH370 aircraft and the Inmarsat satellite. The MH370 search operations of this ship were deployed almost uninterrupted from January 6 to January 14.
Daily yields vary due to operating rhythm, technical factors and weather conditions, with the highest search area in a day being 870.91 km2 on January 14.
A short technical incident occurred on January 7, causing a self-propelled submarine to be recalled early, but the full operation of the 3 self-propelled submarines was then quickly resumed.
The MH370 search is currently within the 55-day search threshold approved by the Malaysian Ministry of Transport on December 3, 2025.
The Boeing 777-200 operated by Malaysia Airlines, flight number MH370, flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, went missing. The missing plane was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members.
Investigators believe that MH370 crashed south of the Indian Ocean. However, many MH370 search operations have been launched but the exact location of the accident cannot be determined.
