US plans to lift blockades of Iranian ports

The US will act as soon as it reaches an agreement to restore unobstructed maritime operations through the Strait of Hormuz.

TASS reported that the US intends to lift the blockade on Iranian ports immediately after reaching an agreement to resume unobstructed sea transport activities in the Strait of Hormuz.

Once the agreement to restore unobstructed commercial transport operations is announced, the US will lift the blockade of Iranian ports," one of the TASS news agency sources noted. At the same time, the sources emphasized that the next actions of the US will be associated with Iran fulfilling its obligations to ensure sea transport operations in the strait.

Previously, the US Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying that the US is ready to end the conflict with Iran without reaching an agreement on its nuclear program.

On August 2, US President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to cancel a planned strong attack on Iran to reach an agreement with Tehran. According to him, Iran and Middle Eastern countries have asked Washington to exercise restraint from attacking, as the parties have agreed on the lines of a future agreement.

On August 5, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei announced that Iran and Oman had agreed on the geographical coordinates for a sea transport transit route through the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump previously said Washington is still maintaining consultations with Iran and expects to reach an agreement soon.
