US and Iranian officials will hold indirect technical talks on July 1 in Doha with mediators from Qatar and Pakistan on the memorandum, based on the progress made at the Lucerne Lake summit" - an unnamed diplomat revealed to AFP.
US special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff will not participate in technical negotiations, the source added. The two US special envoys met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani on June 30.
Both the US and Iran have confirmed that they will send officials to Qatar for a meeting.
The memorandum is mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, including a 60-day ceasefire on the US-Iran conflict that broke out on February 28, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a timeframe for a final agreement to end the conflict as well as reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program.
Iranian officials are scheduled to arrive in Doha on July 1. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that the Iranian delegation will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi. However, he noted that officials "do not plan to negotiate with the US at any level in the coming days".
