On October 14, Russian Ambassador to the US Aleksandr Darchiev presented Anna Paulina Luna - a Republican congresswoman of Florida - with a copy of the Soviet-era documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The announcement was made by the Russian Embassy after the meeting between the two sides.
According to Russian diplomats, these documents were taken from the national archives in Moscow and were largely handed over to the US by the Soviet Union right after Mr. Kennedy's funeral in 2019. Ms. Luna said that she has received a printed copy of the report and will work with the team of experts to start the dichishing and analysis of the entire document.
The 350-page dossier is being reviewed by journalist Jefferson Morley. He said that Ms. Luna's team will publish English translations by proficient Russian speakers, along with explanations of the origin, context and content of the dossier, as well as comparison with what was known about the Soviet reaction to President President President Kennedy's death.
Moon has long called for the disclosure of all information related to the assassination of the 35th US President, and expressed skepticism about the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole culprit. Oswald was a left-wing American marine who lived in the Soviet Union for about three years and married a Russian woman.
Although the official investigation concluded that Oswald acted alone, many other theories still exist, including the possibility of the CIA or US government agencies being involved. Previously, President Donald Trump published 2,800 documents on the incident in 2017 and an additional 80,000 pages of related records in March 2025.
