On October 12, in a speech on the occasion of the Agricultural and Food Processing Workers' Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russia has made great strides in the agricultural sector, becoming one of the key food suppliers of the global market.
Today, Russia is not only completely self-sufficient in food but is also among the world's leading food exporters. Our high-quality products - from cereals, vegetable oils, fish, candy to many other items - are now present in more than 160 countries and are highly appreciated by consumers around the world, Putin said in a video message.
According to the Russian leader, this success is the result of many years of continuous efforts in upgrading agricultural infrastructure, expanding production scale, boosting exports and developing deep processing fields. He affirmed that this development is achieved thanks to the spirit of dedication, professional qualifications and contributions of millions of workers in the industry - from farmers, scientists, engineers, managers to those who have been with agricultural enterprises for many years.

Mr. Putin also emphasized the importance of continuing to invest in technological innovation, scientific application and export market expansion to maintain sustainable growth momentum.
In recent years, Russia has sharply increased exports of grains, especially wheat, making it one of the world's largest wheat exporters.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, in 2024 alone, Russia exported more than 65 million tons of grains, accounting for nearly 25% of total global wheat trade. Key markets include Turkey, Egypt, Iran, China and African countries.
Mr. Putin affirmed that Russia will continue to strengthen its position as a "credible partner" in ensuring global food security - especially in the context of the world facing many challenges in terms of climate, supply chain and politics.
