On February 23, Russia continued to record breakthroughs on the Donbass battlefield when completely pushing back Ukrainian armed forces from the Berestok settlement area. Detailed information about this tactical victory was just directly confirmed by military expert Andrey Marochko in an interview with TASS news agency.
According to assessments from experts, the successful control of Berestok - a stronghold located next to the Konstantinovka area of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) - is of utmost importance to the operational situation.
Updates from the scene show that, immediately after completing the review and cleaning up the area from enemy gunmen, Russian armed forces immediately deployed new attacks.
Mr. Marochko revealed that the combat units of the Russian army are making the most of the momentum of victory to put pressure on the enemy's forces in 3 different subdivisions. The shock troops are simultaneously launching strong attacks and expanding the control area to the east, west and north of the recently liberated area.
He also pointed out that the northern area of the Berestok stronghold is directly adjacent to the southern suburbs of the city of Konstantinovka. This prime geographical location opens up an extremely favorable tactical corridor, creating a solid springboard for the Russian army to continue to tighten the siege of the enemy's next defensive positions.
Previously, Mr. Marochko himself provided field reports to TASS about the disadvantageous situation of Ukrainian armed units on this front.
Facing the pressure of fierce attacks and the risk of being completely besieged and isolated by Russian forces, the Ukrainian army was forced to abandon the battlefield and withdraw from some sub-regions in Berestok to avoid being destroyed.
This latest victory once again demonstrates the absolute proactiveness of Russian firepower in efforts to complete the objectives of the special military operation in the Donbass region.
