On August 7, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operated by the Vostok force had destroyed two armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on the southern front in the Donetsk region (Yuzhnodonets).
The announcement said that these two armored vehicles were used to rotate Ukrainian soldiers. One of them was destroyed near the forest, close to the battle line, while the other was moving on a dirt road.
Based on the coordinates collected, the UAVs used Lancet aircraft to attack and destroy these targets.
Earlier, on August 6, the Russian military attacked and destroyed a AFU T-64BV tank during a patrol in the Alexandro-Kalinovo area of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
The Russian Federation's Ministry of Defense has released a video recording the combat operation.
According to the military, the Ukrainian tanks were attacked by units of the Rubicon Experimental Center for Advanced Unmanned Technology under the Russian Defense Ministry.
On July 31, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces had taken control of the entire Chasov Yar - an important Ukrainian stronghold in Donetsk - after months of fierce fighting.
A source familiar with the matter revealed that the battle in Chasov Yar has caused the Ukrainian army to face "talls of casualties" but did not provide accurate figures.
Although Ukraine said on August 4 that it would maintain strategic positions, especially in Pokrovsk - the logistics hub in Donetsk, it did not provide information on the situation in Dnipro - where Russia claimed to have advanced.
Russian forces have now controlled about 20% of Ukraine since launching a special military operation in February 2022, and have officially merged four regions: Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
Russia has said it has taken full control of Lugansk and parts of other regions, along with Crimea - the peninsula that was annexed by Russia in 2014.
