Russia plans to relax visa procedures and synchronously upgrade transport infrastructure to increase the attractiveness of tourism in the Far East region in the period up to 2030.

The Russian government is planning to implement a series of synchronous solutions on visa easing and upgrading transport infrastructure to increase the attractiveness of the Far Eastern Federal Republic to domestic and international tourists.

This orientation is clearly stated in the Draft Strategy for Socio-Economic Development of the Far Eastern Federal Region to 2030 announced on September 7 (local time).

The document identifies key measures to promote Far Eastern tourism products to the domestic and global markets, including simplifying visa procedures, and standardizing tourism services to better meet the needs of foreign tourists.

In parallel with the policy of opening up, the strategy outlines a roadmap for modernizing the regional airport system, expanding the air route network, upgrading the road network and renovating ports to serve the high-class cruise tourism segment.

The Far Eastern tourism industry has maintained an impressive growth momentum in recent times. Announced data shows that the number of tourists to this region in 2024 increased by 36% compared to 2022, exceeding 1.6 times the national average growth rate of Russia. In the same period, the capacity and number of concentrated accommodation establishments in the region also recorded an increase of 19%.
