The Russian Foreign Ministry said it was ready to consider any "realistic" peace initiatives from Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the country is ready to consider any "realistic" peace initiative on the conflict in Ukraine on condition that it takes into account Russia's own interests as well as the real situation on the ground.

“We are ready for negotiations and are willing to consider any practical, non-politicized initiatives,” Ms. Zakharova said, stressing that Russia would only consider solutions that “take into account our interests.”

“I would like to emphasize once again: the key words here are taking into account the interests of our country, the current situation on the ground and ensuring compliance with the relevant agreements.”

Russia is ready to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine with President-elect Donald Trump, Reuters reported, but has ruled out making any major territorial concessions and insisted Ukraine abandon its ambitions to join NATO.
