On August 13, Russian forces are tightening the fire circle against Ukrainian troops near Volchansk after seizing control of the Vodyanoye residential area in Kharkov province, military expert Andrey Marochko said.
The control of the Vodyanoye residential area is another step towards besieging Ukrainian forces stationed in the east of the Volchansk residential area. The Volchansk region continues to shrink," Mr. Marochko told TASS news agency on August 13.
Previously, this expert informed TASS that Russian forces are expanding their positions near Volchansk and advancing in many different directions to close the encirclement around this residential area. According to him, up to 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers may be trapped in Volchansk pockets.
On August 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian forces had controlled the Vodyanoye residential area in Kharkov province.
Developments in Vodyanoye are seen as a link in efforts to close the encirclement around Volchansk, where Ukrainian forces are being forced into an increasingly narrow space and under fire pressure from many directions.
