During talks at the Kremlin on May 8, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping of China and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the elevation of bilateral relations to a new level, affirming their determination to deal with the influence of the US.
According to Reuters, the two leaders emphasized that Russia and China need to become steel friends and deepen bilateral relations in all fields, including military cooperation.
In a joint statement, the two leaders of Russia and China said they would deepen relations in all areas, including military relations, and "strengthen coordination to strongly opposed Washington's "double restraint" policies on Moscow and Beijing".
The two leaders also said that the conflict in Ukraine can only be resolved by eliminating the roots causes.
The visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Moscow took place on the occasion of the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II - an event of great significance to Russia.

China is currently Russia's largest trading partner. Mr. Putin emphasized that the two will personally monitor key areas of cooperation and set a goal of significantly increasing trade and investment between the two countries from now until 2030.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tap Can Binh called on the two sides to strengthen the cooperation platform and "eliminate external intervention". He said the two countries should stand side by side to fight against unilateralalism and bullying.
The two countries should be real friends, like steel that has been trained through hundreds of red fires - Mr. Tap Can Binh told Mr. Putin.
The two sides signed an unlimited strategic partnership in February 2022, less than three weeks before Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine.
In the context of increasing pressure from the US to end the conflict, the joint statement between Russia and China this time is a strong support for the Kremlin.
For his part, the Russian president has also announced a 3-day unilateral ceasefire starting on May 8. However, Ukraine has not committed to complying, calling it a deceiving move and proposing a ceasefire of at least 30 days.
In addition, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping continued to call for dialogue to end the conflict and accused the US of aggravating the situation by providing weapons to Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also called on Mr. Xi Jinping to persuade Mr. Putin to end the conflict.
