This image was quickly recorded in a short clip, spread on social networks, surprising many passengers and residents. In particular, the incident occurred at the T3 terminal - a modern project, which has just been put into operation since the end of April.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a leader of the T3 terminal construction project management board said that the water leak occurred at the glass roof that was lit up in the waiting area for the terminal's departure gate.
The main reason is determined by the hot weather lasting in recent days in Ho Chi Minh City, making the temperature on the glass roof sometimes up to 70-80 degrees Celsius. The heavy rain in the afternoon 7.5 has made the glue on the roof stretched, creating open positions, causing water to flow to the floor waiting for passengers.
Immediately after the incident, the Project Management Board carried out timely remedy by pumping glue to fill the open positions, and at the same time reviewed and supplemented glue for the entire glass roof line of the station. This work is expected to be completed on the afternoon of 8.5.
The leader of the T3 Terminal Project Management Board also shared that although this incident did not cause much damage, it had more or less affected the image of the T3 terminal.
Because the project was constructed ahead of schedule to put into operation early, the project did not have enough time for actual testing, leading to this unexpected incident.
However, the leader of the T3 Terminal Project Management Board affirmed that this was just a small incident and not due to poor construction quality. remedial measures have been thoroughly implemented and will not be repeated in the coming time.
Terminal T3 was inaugurated on April 19, the largest domestic terminal in the country with a capacity of up to 20 million passengers per year.
The project has a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV).
Currently, Vietnam Airlines' domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Van Don and vice versa have been transferred to operation at Terminal T3.
