On September 14, according to TASS news agency, Russian MP Andrey Kolesnik said that the accusations against Moscow related to the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) incident at Leipzig airport in Germany are provocative actions, and denied the assessment that Russia plans to attack Western countries.
Mr. Kolesnik, a member of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma, told TASS that Western concerns about the possibility of Russia attacking European countries are unfounded. According to this MP, no Russian artillery shells or explosive devices have ever fallen on the territory of European Union (EU) or NATO countries.
Currently, the West is having a lot of hype around accusations that Russia wants to attack them. No Russian artillery shell or any other explosive device has ever fallen on EU or NATO countries," Kolesnik said.
Regarding the UAV incident at Leipzig airport, Mr. Kolesnik called blaming Moscow a "blatant provocation".
Mr. Kolesnik also mentioned the use of Western weapons in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to him, weapons provided by the West are being used against Russia, while a part of European public opinion still believes that Moscow intends to attack countries in the region.
Meanwhile, Western weapons are actually being actively used against Russia. Yet they think we want to attack them. But many people in Europe believe in that," he emphasized.
Mr. Kolesnik's statement focused on refuting accusations against Moscow, and said that assessments of the risk of Russia attacking the EU and NATO need to be considered based on verified information.
