According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the total assets of the richest people in Russia increased by 20.4 billion USD in the first 6 months of 2025. The tycoons in the commodity and energy sectors are the group that benefits the most from this increase.
Vladimir Potanin, a controlling shareholder of Norilsk Nickel, continues to hold the position of the richest person in Russia with assets of 30.4 billion USD, an increase of 2.5 billion USD compared to the beginning of the year. Vagit Alekperov, founder of Lukoil - Russia's second largest oil company - ranked second with 26.5 billion USD, up 1.1 billion USD.
Alexey Mordashov, Chairman of Severstal Steel Group, ranked third with assets reaching 25.2 billion USD, up 1.9 billion USD. Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of Novatek - Russia's second largest natural gas producer - also added $1.4 billion, bringing his total assets to $23.8 billion.
In contrast, Vladimir Lisin, NLMK's largest shareholder, recorded a decrease of $3.5 billion to $22.2 billion due to weak steel prices. In the technology sector, Mr. Pavel Durov - co-founder of Telegram - added 3.2 billion USD, reaching 14.3 billion USD.
