Gia Lai - More than 7,000m2 of 5-year-old acacia forest of 3 households in Binh Hiep commune was burned down, suspected to be caused by a person being careless when burning bees.

On the evening of August 1, speaking with Lao Dong, the leader of the People's Committee of Binh Hiep commune (Gia Lai province) confirmed that a fire had just occurred in the area in the acacia plantation forest, the initial cause of which was suspected to be due to careless beekeeping.

At around 10am the same day, Mr. Nguyen Van N (born in 2019, residing in Thuan Hanh village, Binh Hiep commune) discovered a fire breaking out in the southwest of his family's acacia field, so he shouted for people to come put out the fire. At 12 noon, the fire was under control, so Mr. N and everyone left.

However, 2 hours later, the fire broke out again, so Mr. N quickly reported it to Binh Hiep Commune Police. Immediately afterwards, the police force and local authorities mobilized people to participate in extinguishing the fire.

The fire quickly spread to the acacia area of 2 other households in the village, making control difficult. It was not until 4:00 p.m. the same day that the fire was completely extinguished.

The fire burned down more than 7,000m2 of about 5-year-old acacia forest of 3 households. The cause is being further verified and clarified by the authorities.
