An explosion occurred at the Israel Center in the town of Nijkerk, Netherlands, causing authorities to urgently investigate amid an increase in similar incidents.
Police said that at around 11:30 PM on April 3rd (local time), they received information about an explosion at Henri Nouwenstraat in Nijkerk. There were no casualties, initial damage was assessed as limited. The area has been sealed off for investigation, and authorities are calling on witnesses to provide information.
The affected building is home to the headquarters of the Christenen voor Israel organization, which is described as a meeting point for Christians supporting Israel.
This location had previously hosted protests against Israel's actions in the Middle East. Last year, 4 protesters were convicted of vandalizing this center.
Pro-Palestinian protests also took place in the spring at events organized by Christenen voor Israel in Barneveld and Katwijk. These rallies became tense, with acts of throwing objects and injuring one person at each event.
The explosion at Nijkerk occurred after a series of incidents in March related to locations associated with the Jewish community in the Netherlands. An attack targeting a Jewish synagogue in Rotterdam is being handled by prosecutors as terrorism and 4 suspects have been arrested. Explosives were also placed at a Jewish school and at the Bank of New York Mellon headquarters in Amsterdam.
Police said there have been no arrests related to the incident at Nijkerk and the investigation is still ongoing.
