According to AP, after leaving the Boeing 757 plane bearing his name at Green Bay airport in Wisconsin (USA) on October 30 local time, Mr. Donald Trump walked across the rain-soaked runway and walked to a garbage truck also bearing his name and climbed in next to the driver's seat.
“How do you like my garbage truck?” Trump said, sitting in his garbage truck wearing a reflective vest, white shirt and red tie. “This is in honor of Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden,” he added.
Donald Trump, a former reality TV star, sat on a garbage truck to draw attention to US President Joe Biden's controversial remarks about supporters of the Republican candidate.
In a speech via Zoom on the evening of October 29 (local time) to the Latino voter advocacy group Voto Latino, President Joe Biden said that "the only trash out there is Trump supporters."
This statement was made in the context that Mr. Trump is facing a series of criticisms after racist statements such as comparing Puerto Rico to "a trash island floating in the ocean" and many rude words about Latinos by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe - who was invited to speak at Mr. Donald Trump's presidential campaign event in New York on October 27.
President Joe Biden immediately took to social media to clarify the main purpose of his October 29 speech to criticize the smearing of Latinos as unacceptable.
However, President Joe Biden's controversial statement has unintentionally created disadvantages for Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Mr. Trump believes that President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are looking down on Republican supporters.
For his part, Mr. Trump said he did not have to apologize to the people of Puerto Rico after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's speech. Mr. Trump answered questions while sitting on the garbage truck: "I don't know who he is. I've never seen him. I've heard some of his statements, but they're his own. I can only tell you he's a comedian and I don't know anything about him."
A spokesman for Mr Trump said comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's jokes did not reflect his views.
“I love Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico loves me,” Mr. Trump told reporters before leaving, and “I hope you enjoy the garbage truck. Thank you very much.”
Not long after, Mr. Trump still wore the reflective vest for sanitation workers when appearing at a campaign stage.
