Former Republican President Donald Trump has an edge over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on who would better lead the country amid the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, according to a Wall Street Journal poll of seven battleground states.
According to a Wall Street Journal poll, Mr. Trump leads Ms. Harris in seven battleground states, with 50% saying he would handle the war in Ukraine well, while only 39% say the same about Ms. Harris. Mr. Trump, with 48% support, also leads Ms. Harris, who has 33% support, when it comes to handling the war between Israel and Hamas.
The poll also found that many voters support Mr. Trump on the economy and immigration, while many believe Ms. Harris would do better on housing and health care.
In terms of overall support, a poll released on October 11 showed that Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump had equal support rates in seven states that could decide the US presidential election in November.
The poll found that Ms. Harris leads by 2% in Arizona, Georgia and Michigan, while Mr. Trump leads by 6% in Nevada and 1% in Pennsylvania. The two candidates for the 2024 US presidential election are tied in North Carolina and Wisconsin.
The Wall Street Journal poll of seven battleground states was conducted with 600 registered voters in each state from September 28 to October 8 with a margin of error of 4% in each state.
Reuters said the close result was similar to other polls showing a tight race ahead of the November 5 election.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll this week also showed Mr Trump and Ms Harris in a very tight race nationally, with Ms Harris leading with 46% support while Mr Trump's support was at 43%.
