On August 20 (Washington time), according to TASS news agency quoting a document released by the White House, US President Donald Trump signed a memorandum of understanding, setting a target to increase the number of launches and remissions of spacecraft in the US to more than 1,000 times per year by 2030.
By 2030, the US must increase infrastructure capacity to respond to more than 1,000 launches and bring spacecraft back to Earth each year," the memorandum stated.
Currently, the US conducts more than 200 space launches each year. According to the new target, this number will increase to more than 1,000 launches per year by 2030, equivalent to about 5 times the current number.
Mr. Trump's memorandum also gives a series of instructions related to expanding space exploration activities, including research into the possibility of bringing robots to the surface of Mars through commercial activities.
The US President also requested to study commercial options to put humans on the surface of Mars and bring them back to Earth.
The above directives show that the Trump administration is promoting a significant expansion of US space operational capabilities, with the increasing participation of the trade sector.
Increasing the number of launches to more than 1,000 times per year will require the US to significantly expand infrastructure capabilities for launches and re-entry into the atmosphere, in the context of rapidly developing commercial activities in the space sector.
