Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed "freezing" the Russia-Ukraine conflict and resuming peace talks in Istanbul.

Speaking at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk (Russia) on July 25 (local time), according to AFP, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the war in Ukraine needs to end, and called for freezing the conflict.

It's heartbreaking that young people are dying. All of this needs to end," the President of Kazakhstan commented.

Mr. Tokayev proposed resuming negotiations in Istanbul (Turkey) in 2022, and then continuing to promote the process towards peace that the parties have long awaited.

In response, President Putin said he would discuss the conflict situation in Ukraine with Mr. Tokayev during the talks between the two leaders.

On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine had launched more than 300 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting many areas on Russian territory. Governor of the Tyumen region Alexander Moor informed that a local oil refinery caught fire after the attack.

In Yekaterinburg city, Ural province, a national athletics tournament had to be suspended due to UAV warnings. E-commerce group Wildberries also evacuated employees at high risk of being attacked.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the country's forces attacked targets in Siberia, and also attacked a defense factory in the Kirov region, Russia.
