Speaking on July 8, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there are currently many conflicting statements about the US providing weapons to Ukraine. However, it is clear that arms transfers from Europe are still taking place regularly.
The statement came after Trump said the US would continue to support Kiev with defensive weapons to help Ukraine deal with increasingly intense attacks from Russia.
" Obviously, the aid is still ongoing. Europe is clearly actively stepping up the supply of weapons to Ukraine," Peskov said. He also stressed that determining the exact type and quantity of weapons that the US will transfer still needs more time to clarify.
Meanwhile, Russia is still conducting attacks in many areas along the front line and currently controls nearly a fifth of Ukraine's territory, including the Crimean peninsula, the entire Lugansk region, most of the other three areas and a small part of the remaining three regions.
Mr. Peskov also said that Moscow acknowledged Mr. Trump's efforts to promote direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. He affirmed that this opens up the real possibility of resuming trade and economic relations between Russia and the US in the future.
However, he also criticized the current economic sanctions imposed by the US, emphasizing that they not only hurt Russian businesses but also negatively affected US businesses.
