On June 14, one person was seriously injured after a shooting incident at a parade protesting President Donald Trump's policies in Salt Lake City, Utah state.
According to local media, the incident occurred on State Street, right outside the Liberty Sky apartment building. Video footage from the scene shows the crowd of demonstrators panicking and fleeing when gunshots rang out.
Police said the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect was controlled and arrested by security forces at the scene. The image circulating on social media shows the police tying up a man wearing black.
The Utah shooting was the second serious incident to occur as part of a nationwide protest series called No Kings, which opposed President Trumps immigration tightening policies.
Also on June 14, Virginia state police arrested a man driving an SUV that crashed straight into a crowd of protests, injuring at least one person. The specific motives for both incidents are not yet clear.
The "no king" protest movement took place across the US with most of the marches taking place moderately, under the slogan "No one is above the law". Notably, the movement coincided with the time when the US held a parade.
Despite the humid weather, tens of thousands of people took to the streets to sing loudly, expressing support for immigrants and opposing what they considered President Trump's attempt to "concentrate power".
In Florida, the parade approached Trump's Mar-a-Lago villa in Palm Beach, within the permitted range of the authorities. Here, they met with some Trump supporters.
In Philadelphia - where the Second Location Congress signed the Declaration of Independence, tens of thousands of people also took to the streets to protest.
Marches, protests and car parades also took place simultaneously in many areas in northern and southern California. In Los Angeles alone, organizers have called on residents to participate widely, as the government has mobilized both the National Guard and the Marines to ensure security, after several previous protests over immigration enforcement turned violent.
It is estimated that there will be about 2,000 marches and rallies planned across the United States.
