Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain - Doan Thanh Song said that this October, the Embassy will organize two cultural programs in Madrid: a painting exhibition with the theme "Friendship" and a culinary festival "Convergence of Vietnamese and Spanish culinary quintessence".
The exhibition will feature more than 30 works by 7 famous Vietnamese and 5 Spanish artists, with distinctive styles and imprints on the country, people, culture and history of Vietnam and Spain.
Not only commemorative activities, since the beginning of the year, the Embassy has organized many meetings with Spanish businesses about prospects and opportunities to enhance cooperation, investment and business with Vietnam with the hope of bringing businesses and investors of the two countries closer together.
The Embassy has also actively promoted economic and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Spain in areas where the host country has strengths such as transport infrastructure, railways, wind power, green energy, seaports, etc.
The embassy also focuses on promoting experience sharing and technology exchange, especially in the field of food processing industry.
During a working visit to Huetor Tajar city, Granada province, local businesses also shared and expressed their desire to promote cooperation in the production and processing of some agricultural products with Vietnam such as artichoke flowers, asparagus...
Interestingly, while we mostly use artichokes for tea, canned artichokes are a popular Spanish delicacy. Spain is the second largest producer and largest exporter of artichokes in the world.
With Spain having world-class education and research quality, also in 2024, the Embassy met with leaders of more than 10 universities, the Ministry of Education and a number of high schools, including large schools with many strengths in technology and engineering such as Polytechnic University of Madrid, Complutense University, Autonomous University of Madrid, Alcala University... to connect and promote the signing of cooperation agreements, including the exchange of experts and engineers, providing scholarships and organizing exchange programs with Vietnamese schools (Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Transport, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Diplomatic Academy, Hanoi University, Nguyen Sieu University...).
Through that, Ambassador Doan Thanh Song also hopes that Spain will increase support for Vietnam in language training at universities and high schools, as well as consider opening another Cervantes language teaching room in Ho Chi Minh City soon.
In particular, to enhance tourism promotion activities to reach the Spanish market, Vietnam is considering sending representatives to join the World Tourism Organization and better coordinate the organization of tourism promotion events in the area.
Spain is a market with high spending capacity, long-term stays, high growth rate and high number of tourists coming to Vietnam, so Ambassador Doan Thanh Song also hopes that Vietnam Airlines and other Vietnamese airlines will soon study and open direct flights to not only attract Spanish tourists but also tourists from Latin American and North African countries who consider Spain as a gateway to Europe and Asia.
