Israel declares want to overthrow Iranian government
On September 3rd (local time), according to TASS news agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that changing the government in Iran is a priority in Israel's foreign policy.
Mr. Netanyahu made the statement in a meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Katz, Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir and senior military officials ahead of the Rosh Hashanah ceremony, the Jewish New Year, which will take place from September 11-13 this year.
Mr. Netanyahu affirmed that Israel has the ability to eliminate the threat from Iran "once and for all". According to him, this is still Israel's central task and this goal is "reachable".
The Israeli leader said that Iran is currently "weaker than ever" and is "fighting to survive". He also warned opponents not to confront Israel, affirming that this country has enough strength, determination and solidarity to overcome threats.
Oman rejects proposal to collect tolls for trains passing through Hormuz
In another development, Oman rejected Iran's proposal for the two countries to jointly collect service fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, according to TASS.
TASS quoted a senior official in the region as saying that Oman does not accept even the option of voluntary toll collection to ensure security and protect the environment in the strait.
Sources said that Oman wants to avoid disagreements with US President Donald Trump. Previously, on August 17, Mr. Trump criticized Oman and threatened military action if it hindered efforts to resolve the conflict between the US and Iran.
The US is dissatisfied with the concessions that Oman is said to have made in negotiations with Iran on controlling the Strait of Hormuz, including ship operations and transit fees.
Mr. Trump continues to talk about the Ukraine conflict
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump affirmed that he wants the conflict in Ukraine to end.
I just want the conflict to end. It's very simple," Trump said in an interview with the press.
Mr. Trump also reiterated his view that if he had won the 2020 US presidential election, conflict in Ukraine would not have occurred.
The latest statement was made in the context that the issue of finding a solution to the Ukraine conflict continues to be mentioned by Washington and Moscow. Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that there is still a chance to reach a solution to the conflict and said that Russia is ready to participate in the negotiation process with the desired parties.
