The Chinese Air Force's Y-20 transport aircraft landed at Shenyang International Airport, carrying the remains of 30 soldiers who died and 267 personal relics. This is an annual return trip according to the agreement between China and South Korea.
Since 2014, the two countries have conducted 12 handover rounds, bringing to China a total of more than 1,011 remains of the Korean Volunteer Army (CPV) - a force that fought in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, the remains after the return will be buried at the Imperial Academy Martyrs' Cemetery in Samhang, where thousands of their comrades have rested.
Chinese authorities have affirmed that the repatriation of remains is a sacred ritual, expressing the country's gratitude to those who have sacrificed.
During the Korean War, China is estimated to have lost more than 180,000 soldiers, many of whom are buried in South Korea. Bringing them back to their homeland is considered an important part of the work of commemorating and educating the younger generation.
