Previously, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany announced the prosecution of a Ukrainian citizen named Sergey K - who is suspected of participating in the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
According to the German prosecutor, Sergey K and his accomplices used the Andromeda yacht, rented in the German city of Rostock, to carry out the Nord Stream sabotage operation. From this yacht, divers attached many explosive devices to the pipeline sections under the seabed.
In September 2022, 3 of the 4 branches of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 systems were seriously damaged in explosions in the Baltic Sea. After the incident, the Russian Attorney General's Office initiated a case with charges that this was an act of international terrorism.
In March 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also affirmed that Ukrainians were not involved in the explosions targeting the Nord Stream pipeline system.
