Vietnam - Laos effectively implement 500 days and nights of searching for martyrs' remains

In Vientiane Capital, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam just had a meeting and working session with Senior Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army, Head of the Special Work Committee of the Lao Government on the deployment of coordination to implement the 500-day and night campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains.

Attending the working session were representatives of leaders of units under the Lao Ministry of National Defense, representatives of the Lao Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare; representatives of the Vietnamese Defense Attaché Office in Laos and officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.

At the working session, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam thanked Comrade Vongsone Inpanphim for taking the time to receive and work with the Ambassador, deeply expressing the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos; information about the purpose, requirements, meaning, content, tasks, scale, goals, and plan to deploy the 500-day and night campaign to promote the search, repatriation, and identification of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos.

The Ambassador thanked the great support, valuable and sincere help of the Party, State, Army and People of Laos in the revolutionary cause of national liberation of Vietnam in the past, as well as the cause of building, protecting and developing the country today, especially the support, creating favorable conditions, and close coordination in searching, gathering, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos during the wars.

The Ambassador emphasized that the search and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos is a major policy of the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos, reflecting the tradition of the ethnic tradition "When drinking water, remember the source" of the Vietnamese and Lao people and the sacred and deep feelings towards the martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, national defense and fulfilling noble international obligations.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the deployment results of the gathering teams of Military Regions and Military Commands of some localities in the 2025-2026 dry season and the handover and organization of the Memorial Service and burial of martyrs' remains in localities of Vietnam in May; expressed his wish that the Party, State, Government, Army and people of Laos continue to pay attention to directing agencies, organizations, and localities of Laos to closely coordinate with Vietnamese functional agencies to successfully implement the sacred and noble task.

At the working session, Senior Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam also exchanged views on the advantages and difficulties in the search and repatriation of remains of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in Laos; directions, tasks, and solutions that need to be coordinated and implemented in the coming time to effectively and successfully implement the 500-day and night campaign, promote the search, repatriation, and identification of remains of martyrs who sacrificed in Laos.
