Vietnam pledges to create the most favorable conditions for UK businesses

At the Vietnam - UK Summit, General Secretary To Lam pledged to ensure the most favorable investment environment for UK businesses.

According to VNA, on the morning of October 30 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation attended and delivered a speech at the Vietnam - UK High-Level Economic Conference in London, within the framework of an official visit to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

At the Conference, businesses, organizations and experts from the two countries discussed many contents and practical proposals on cooperation topics in 3 important areas: finance, technology and energy.

Speaking at the Conference, General Secretary To Lam pointed out that the world has been going through many complex changes not only in geopolitics but also in economy and trade, and affirmed that with the efforts, determination and consensus of the Party, State and people as well as the business community, Vietnam has maintained comprehensive stability.

General Secretary To Lam shared that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development, with the aspiration to become a developed country with high income by 2045, based on 3 pillars - independence, self-reliance, innovation and extensive international integration. At the same time, the economic growth target from 2026 onwards must reach at least 10%/year.

General Secretary To Lam believes that Vietnam has a young, diligent and creative workforce, with the desire to rise up; has international and market friends; the cooperation of friends, including British friends and businesses.

General Secretary To Lam said that Vietnam always attaches importance to its relationship with the UK, a strategic partner that plays an important role in the global cooperation structure.

In recent times, the Vietnam - UK relationship has been continuously consolidated and developed. In particular, trade and investment - an important pillar of the relationship between the two countries - are witnessing strong development steps.

General Secretary To Lam said that in the context of climate change and the global energy crisis, green transformation and renewable energy development are an inevitable trend.

In the National Energy Development Strategy for Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Vietnam prioritizes rapid and sustainable energy development, steadfast in its commitment at the 26th Summit of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) and COP28.

Appreciating the frank, open and constructive spirit of businesses, organizations and experts of the two countries, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities seriously study and accept the recommendations at the Conference, and proactively discuss with the UK side to concretize them into programs, projects and cooperation agreements in the coming time.

Vietnam is committed to continuing to accompany, perfect institutions, ensure the most transparent, stable and favorable investment environment for British investors and businesses, and encourage Vietnamese businesses to expand investment in the UK, to make the relationship increasingly substantial and develop sustainably.

General Secretary To Lam believes that Vietnam and the UK will not only be partners, but also trustworthy and sincere friends, joining hands for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
