General Secretary To Lam believes that the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention marks a new chapter, turning cyberspace into a space of law, cooperation and development.

On the afternoon of October 25, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Heads of Delegations from countries attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) and the United Nations Summit on Cybercrime.

According to VNA, at the reception, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the participation of representatives of countries and international organizations at this meaningful global event as a vivid demonstration of the spirit of international solidarity to jointly deal with a common challenge of humanity and also affirmed the close friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and countries and peoples around the world.

The General Secretary stated that today in Hanoi, we have become historical witnesses to the beginning of a new global cooperation process on preventing and combating cybercrime.

The General Secretary expressed his pride that Hanoi, chosen by United Nations members as the place to open the signing of the Convention, demonstrated the recognition of United Nations members for Vietnam's contributions to the fight against cybercrime. More broadly, it is also the appreciation of the international community for Vietnam's efforts in promoting world peace and security as well as for Vietnam's role and position in the international arena.

For Vietnam to gain its international prestige and position as it is today, it is indispensable to have the enthusiastic and widespread support, both materially and spiritually, of the international community - the General Secretary emphasized.

The General Secretary affirmed that as an inseparable part of the international community, Vietnam is actively and proactively exploiting the development potential of cyberspace and technology associated with cyberspace.

In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to adhere to socialist goals and the path of innovation; continue to promote the highest spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-reliance and national pride"; expand and strengthen cooperation and partnership with countries around the world for the common goals of the times. Vietnam hopes to continue to receive support, companionship and close cooperation from peace-loving parties, friends and people in the world; together promote the spirit of international solidarity to contribute to the building of world politics, the global economy and human civilization.

The General Secretary believes that the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention will mark a new chapter in global network cooperation and governance, turning cyberspace into a space of law, of cooperation and development.

Vietnam calls on countries to soon ratify so that the Convention can soon take effect. Vietnam also pledged to work with countries and international organizations to promote cooperation in exploiting the potential of cyberspace as well as preventing and combating cybercrime, for peace, stability and sustainable development of countries and for the peaceful and happy life of all people in the world.
