On the evening of October 28, local time, at Raffles Hotel, London, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, had an intimate meeting with many overseas Vietnamese living, working and studying in the UK, representatives of the Vietnamese delegation in the UK and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, VNA reported.
General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and emotion at the warm, warm and affectionate reception filled with the homeland's affection of the overseas Vietnamese community in the UK for the General Secretary and the working delegation.
Listening to the aspirations of the people, General Secretary To Lam was happy that overseas Vietnamese always turn to their homeland, update the country's situation as well as pay attention to the policies of the Party and the State.
The General Secretary said that this visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State took place in the context of the very good development of Vietnam - UK relations.
The General Secretary emphasized the special connection between Vietnam and the UK, which marked President Ho Chi Minh's mark in his journey to find a way to save the country, with famous landmarks such as the blue plaque named after him at the New Zealand House building on Haymarket Street or the stone stele at the seaport of Newhaven city.
The General Secretary said that developing science and technology requires attaching importance to human resources, intellectuals, and workers with high labor productivity, affirming that the state has a special treatment policy to attract leading experts to create a strong new economic driving force, promote the spirit of national resilience, pride, and self-respect of our people, and at the same time remind the overseas Vietnamese community to focus on preserving and promoting cultural traditions, especially maintaining the Vietnamese language for the next generations.
The General Secretary advised Vietnamese students to continue to strive to study and research with high achievements, make useful contributions to the host society and return to their homeland, and affirmed that the state is ready to welcome Vietnamese students and intellectuals back to the country.
The General Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese; affirmed that the Party and State will continue to care for and look after our compatriots abroad to create conditions for people to feel secure living, studying and working abroad, and at the same time believe that with the tradition of patriotism, self-reliance, self-reliance, intelligence and Vietnamese bravery, the Vietnamese community in the UK, along with the community around the world, will continue to be a source of strength, join hands and unite with the country in the new development stage of the nation.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly presented the Embassy and the community with hometown gifts and Vietnamese books to children and Vietnamese classes of the community so that they could learn more about the heroic history and traditional cultural beauty of the nation, thereby being more connected with their homeland.
