Vietnam is ready to join BRICS in promoting the role of developing countries

On the morning of October 24, local time (afternoon of the same day, Hanoi time), in Kazan, Russian Federation, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the plenary session of the BRICS Leaders' Meeting with the theme: "BRICS and the Southern Hemisphere together build a better world".

On the evening of October 23, local time, at the Kazan Expo Convention Center, Kazan City, Tatarstan Republic, Russian Federation, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the BRICS Group in 2024, hosted a welcoming ceremony for the heads of delegations and a solemn reception to welcome the delegations attending the BRICS Leaders' Meeting and the BRICS Plus. Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of countries, territories, and international organizations attended the event.

The BRICS Summit and the BRICS Plus, along with dozens of related events within the framework of the Summit, took place from October 22-24 in Kazan City, Tatarstan Republic, Russian Federation. The BRICS Summit's main theme is "Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security". Meanwhile, the BRICS Plus Summit has the theme "BRICS and the Global South: Building a better world together".

According to the program of his working trip to attend the BRICS Summit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin - Chairman of the BRICS Group in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the plenary session of the BRICS Summit and sessions within the framework of the BRICS Summit.

Earlier, also on October 23, after a solemn welcoming ceremony at Kazan International Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak. Expressing the respect and support of the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for Russia's role as BRICS Chair, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always considers Russia one of the top priority partners in foreign policy; was pleased to acknowledge the positive results in the multifaceted cooperation achieved between the two countries since President Putin's visit; and wished to work with the Russian Government to seek solutions to strengthen cooperation in the coming time, especially in areas where both sides have strengths and potential, on the basis of mutual benefit.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak affirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government leaders highly value the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading important partner in the Asia-Pacific region; thanked the Prime Minister for his attention and strong direction for the Vietnam-Russia relationship.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the Russian Government continue to pay attention to and promote new cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, while continuing to effectively promote the cooperation documents signed between the two countries in this important field. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for Russian enterprises, including oil and gas enterprises, to expand their operations in Vietnam.

On the same day, on the occasion of attending the expanded BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a brief meeting with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping; met with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith; met with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan as well as had brief meetings with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed.

During a brief meeting with Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed China's outstanding contributions to the BRICS mechanism and expressed his willingness to actively coordinate with BRICS member countries to further promote the role of developing countries in addressing global peace and development issues.
