Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that on June 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a recommendation for Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Israel and Iran to comply with regulations and instructions on security and safety protection measures of local authorities and to keep in touch, closely monitor warning information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel and Iran; and prepare for the safe evacuation of people and property to third countries or to Vietnam.
"According to information from Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Israel and Iran, there are more than 700 Vietnamese citizens in Israel; there are 37 Vietnamese citizens and 4 people of Vietnamese origin in Iran. So far, no casualties have been recorded for the Vietnamese community in these two areas" - Ms. Hang informed.
The spokesperson said that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries and branches have discussed and carefully studied the options and directed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel and Iran as well as Vietnamese representative agencies in neighboring countries to closely monitor the situation, requesting local authorities to ensure maximum safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in dangerous areas.
At the same time, units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in the area and in the Middle East, neighboring areas have closely coordinated with domestic authorities, diplomatic agencies of countries, partners in Hanoi, functional agencies and diplomatic delegations in their localities to develop protection plans, ensure the safety of citizens, ensure the safety of representative agency headquarters and develop plans to evacuate Vietnamese citizens at hot spots to third countries.
Until June 19, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran has coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, as well as relevant countries to deploy citizen protection work to send 18 Vietnamese citizens in Iran to third countries and return home; continue to closely monitor and be ready with measures to protect citizens for the remaining citizens in Iran.
I have also just received information that the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran currently has an Ambassador and 4 officials who are maintaining contact with the remaining citizens in Iran, to ensure the protection of citizens is carried out most effectively, said Ms. Hang.
According to Ms. Hang, Vietnamese citizens are currently safe, mentally stable and regularly maintain close contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel is also coordinating with Vietnamese representative agencies in neighboring countries to deploy an emergency response plan and will evacuate Vietnamese citizens living and working in Israel to a third country.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel has opened an online registration portal for Vietnamese citizens wishing to leave Israel or go to a third country to make a list, summarize needs and coordinate with competent authorities to develop appropriate support plans.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel recommends that Vietnamese citizens should stay calm, proactive and if they can find a way to leave Israel through the road border gate when security and safety conditions allow, closely monitor information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel as well as update warnings from local authorities.
