On September 23, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the T80BVM tank crew of the 9th Guards Mechanized gun Brigade, part of the Central operational group, destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the special military campaign area.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the exact coordinates of the target were detected by reconnaissance UAVs. After receiving the information, the tank crew fired a series of powerful bullets of 125mm from a distance of 10km.
The firepower adjustment process is carried out in real time thanks to reconnaissance UAVs.
The unit commander then directly participated in the correction task with the vehicle crew, helping the rear shots achieve higher accuracy. After completing the mission, the vehicle crew disguised themselves as vehicles and hid in the shelter as preparations.
The new tank still has a paint smell, and fights very well, both in-person and from closed positions, said wildcatter commander Vadim Kabanov.
Goalkeeper Sergei Pustovit added that the vehicle "operated smoothly like a watch". According to Pustovit, aiming is easy, but to hit the target, the artillery requires experience.
Previously, on September 22, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy-class thermal rocket artillery system operator team of the Vostok combat group had destroyed a AFU base near Chervonoye village, Zaporizhzhia province.
