On July 23, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the naval exercise with the participation of more than 150 warships and 15,000 Russian soldiers in the seas, including the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic, along with the Baltic Sea and the Caspie Sea, had officially begun.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the exercise, called "July Storm", will take place from July 23 to 27 to test the fleet's readiness for non-standard operations, the use of long-range weapons and other advanced technologies including unmanned systems.
"At sea, the crew will practice deployment to combat areas, carry out anti-submarine operations, protect deployment areas and economic activities" - the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Russian military will also practice "defying airstrike attacks, unmanned ships and drones of the enemy, ensuring maritime safety, attacking enemy Navy targets and groups".
Notably, more than 120 aircraft and 10 coastal missile systems will also participate and Admiral Alexander Moiseev and Commander of the Navy will command the exercise.
Despite spending more than three years in conflict with Ukraine, Russia remains one of the three countries with the strongest military forces in the world, along with China and the United States, according to most public rankings.
