The Vietnamese shooting team continues to win more medals at the 2026 Asian pistol and rifle Championships in India.
On the competition day, we participated in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol with 3 shooters including Ha Minh Thanh, Vu Tien Nam and Tran Cong Hieu.
The shooters had to compete in the individual qualifying round in 2 rounds of shooting. At the end of the qualifying round, Ha Minh Thanh achieved 577 points and Vu Tien Nam achieved 569 points to win a spot to participate in the individual final. Shooter Tran Cong Hieu achieved 561 points, so he did not enter the final.
In the individual final, Vu Tien Nam only ranked 7th due to 5 points, while Ha Minh Thanh ranked 4th with 16 points.
Although there were no individual result medals, the Vietnamese shooting team won a team bronze medal. Calculating the total team points, we have 1707 points, so we maintain 3rd place. The first team position is Kazakhstan and the runner-up is India.
The Vietnamese shooting team will still compete in the tournament until the end of the 14th. 2. We still have opportunities to compete for medals in some of the following events.
Currently, the Vietnamese shooting team has a gold medal result with the individual achievement of 25m women's sports pistol by shooter Nguyen Thuy Trang.
The 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championship is the first international competition program of the Vietnamese shooting team in 2026.
At this tournament, the coaching staff sent 14 shooters from groups in pistol and rifle events to compete.
Important shooters such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy have achieved team medals through their competition events in India.
