Shooters Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang and Nguyen Thuy Dung of the Vietnamese shooting team participate in the women's 25m sports pistol event at the 2026 Asian Short Rifle and Rifle Championship on February 9th.
All 3 players competed with high concentration. After the qualifying rounds, Nguyen Thuy Trang ranked 3rd with 584 points to win a spot to participate in the final of the event.
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh ranked 12th with only 576 points, while shooter Nguyen Thuy Dung ranked 16th with 569 points.
Thuy Trang is the only Vietnamese shooter to participate in the final.
She competed against opponents from India, Taiwan (China), Japan, Kazakhstan.
After each shot, Thuy Trang maintained stability to stand in the leading group. At the end of the decisive shots, only Thuy Trang and Bhaker Manu (India) competed for the championship.
The two shooters both achieved a total score of 35 in the final. However, in the shoot-off to determine the winner-loser, Thuy Trang excellently surpassed the shooter from the host team India.
The No. 1 position and important gold medal have been won by Nguyen Thuy Trang. Up to this point, this is the first gold medal of the Vietnamese shooting team at the 2026 Asian pistol and rifle Championships.
2 months ago at SEA Games 33 in Thailand, Thuy Trang entered the women's 25m pistol individual final, but she only won a silver medal. The champion at that time was Trinh Thu Vinh.
In India, in team performance, the Vietnamese women's pistol team won a bronze medal in the 25m standard pistol. The Indian team won a gold medal and the Taiwanese (China) team won a silver medal.
