Tran Thi Thanh Thuy may attend the 2026 National Sports Games
Main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is participating in the AVC Cup 2026 with the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team. According to research, she is looking for an opportunity to return to Japan to compete in the 2026-2027 season.
However, Thanh Thuy has another task with the managing unit VTV Binh Dien Long An, which is to compete in the X-2026 National Sports Festival. The volleyball competition program will take place in November in Ho Chi Minh City.
The VTV Binh Dien Long An team will be the main force of the Tay Ninh women's team participating in this year's National Sports Festival.
If Thanh Thuy continues to play in Japan, she will have to soon join her team in October (the 2026-2027 Japan tournament starts from October 2026).
The time of the X-2026 National Sports Festival in Vietnam will coincide with the volleyball tournament in Japan. However, Thanh Thuy and the managing unit can still develop a plan to propose early to the Japanese team to be able to return to Vietnam to compete.
Four years ago, Thanh Thuy and the Long An women's team reached the final of the women's volleyball event of the X-2022 National Sports Festival in Quang Ninh. The Long An women's team lost to the Army team and received a silver medal.
Vietnamese women's volleyball team gets added points for ranking
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is currently ranked 27th in the world. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students started playing and won the first match 3-0 against Lebanon at AVC Cup 2026.
The AVC Cup 2026 is the official competition program of the Asian Volleyball Federation, and is also recognized by the World Volleyball Federation - FIVB for competition points.
Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has just been added 3.99 points in the world rankings thanks to the victory over Lebanon.
Currently, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has 136.75 points on the FIVB world rankings. Thus, after nearly 1 year, Vietnamese female players have just been added points to find opportunities to increase their rankings at the FIVB. The last time the performance results of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team were counted (plus or minus) was when participating in the 2025 World Championship in Thailand.
Last year, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the runner-up position at SEA Games 33, but this is a tournament that is not accepted by the FIVB system to calculate points in the match results.
However, SEA V.League is a tournament that has been recognized by FIVB to calculate points for participating teams to accumulate into world rankings.
