On the afternoon of May 20, Binh Duong club announced that Japanese coach Naoki Kusunose had officially joined the team. In Binh Duong, Mr. Naoki Kusunose will be an assistant to head coach Nguyen Anh Duc.
Mr. Naoki Kusunose was born in 1964, is an experienced football expert and has many outstanding achievements in his coaching career such as the head coach of the Japan U17 women's team that won the 2016 U17 Women's World Cup and 3rd place in the 2017 U16 Asian Women's Cup.
Coach Naoki Kusunose also led the Urawa Red Diamonds women's team to win 2 consecutive championships in the WE League (Japan's highest professional women's national championship). He has also been voted the best coach in the WE League for 2 consecutive years.
By appointing Mr. Naoki Kusunose as "deputy general" for coach Anh Duc, Binh Duong club is showing seriousness in restructuring the team structure.
After coach Anh Duc joined Binh Duong, many members of the coaching staff of this team had to say goodbye.
The immediate task of coach Anh Duc and assistant Naoki Kusunose is to help Binh Duong complete the goal of winning the 2024-2025 National Cup. Currently, Binh Duong has reached the semi-finals and will face Song Lam Nghe An in this round in June.
